Class 'A' and 'B'
Foam Fire Extinguishers
Foam fire extinguishers are recommended for use on class 'A' and class 'B' fires. Foam spray fire extinguishers are not recommended for fires involving electricity but are safer than water if inadvertently sprayed onto live electrical apparatus.
Multi-Purpose
Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers
Dry powder fire extinguishers are often termed the ‘multi-purpose' fire extinguisher, as it can be used on classes 'A', 'B' and 'C' fires. These fire extinguishers are best used for running liquid fires (class 'B') and they will also efficiently extinguish class 'C' gas fires.

CO2 Fire Extinguishers
CO2 carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are safest to use on fires involving electrical equipment such as offices. Unlike foam fire extinguishers, CO2 fire extinguishers leave no residue after use. Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers will also extinguish class 'B' liquid fires.
